PRESIDENTS SAFETY POLICY

 

Sienna Contracting / Sienna Composite Group Ltd. places the importance of safety above all other aspects of the company's business.

Sienna Contracting / Sienna Composite Group Ltd. (hereafter referred to as "The Company") believes the good health and safety of its employees, contractors, subcontractors, clients and communities in which it conducts its business are paramount to the company's success.

Accidents can cause serious physical injury and property damage; at the very lease they deteriorate worker morale and shake the confidence of clients and the public. As a result, it is the Company's policy to ensure safety by removing hazardous conditions wherever possible. When this is not feasible or not enough to ensure safety, the Company alerts workers and visitors to the potential hazards at hand and trains them to handle the hazards appropriately. 

Company management, from the President to the Supervisors, is responsible for providing strong leadership in safety; this leadership includes identification of existing and potential work hazards, provision and maintenance of protective equipment, and development of training programs.

All Company employees, contractors, and subcontractors are responsible for taking work hazards seriously and protecting themselves and each other from danger. They are expected to adhere to management safety directives, use protective equipment provided, and take advantage of training opportunities whenever they are offered. Employees are also encouraged to notify management of any new hazards they encounter on the job.

At Sienna Contracting / Sienna Composite Group Ltd. safety is a shared responsibility.


Safety Program Administration

 

INTRODUCTION
We are committed to safety as an integral part of our operations. A program is in place to protect our employees, clients, property, the environment and the public.

As contractor or subcontractor to the operating company, it is our responsibility and policy to abide by all provincial and federal legislation, i.e. (OH & S) and operating companies, general safety regulations. Should their be any conflict, the more stringent conditions will apply.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

 

GENERAL
Accidents resulting in personal injury, impairment of health, property damage or disruption to operations are costly to the Company and affect the well-being of its employees. Accidents are preventable and usually represent failures by supervisors or employees to predict and control circumstances leading to their occurrence.

OBJECTIVES AND GOALS
The Company's policy is to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions; to prevent injury, illness or other impairments to the health of employees, contractors, customers or the public; and to prevent damage to property of the Company or others.

ADMINISTRATION
Accident prevention is an integral part of good business planning and efficient operations. Therefore, one of management's responsibilities is to administer an effective program. The total safety and loss control effort encompasses employees, supervisors, management, the Company's resources, contractors, customers and the public.


GUIDING PRINCIPLES

 

The Company has a responsibility to protect all workers engaged in its activities from personal injury and health hazards. To meet our responsibility we will operate under the following guiding principles:

RESPONSIBILITY
The Company, when acting as principal contractor, is responsible for coordination and general supervision of all activities in the work area, including activities carried out by subcontractors and suppliers. While all parties have a responsibility to promote worker safety, we recognize our leadership role in promoting worker health and safety on the basis that we have the greatest power to influence work situations.

PRIORITY
Activities will be conducted on the basis that safety of all personnel is of vital importance, whether those personnel are employed by the Company, or by its contractors, subcontractors or suppliers.

RECOGNITION
The process of selecting contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, and the administration of contract, will include recognition and support of good safety performance. Support and recognition based on good safety performance will also be provided to Company employees.

IMPROVEMENT
The Company, in cooperation with other companies within the industry, will promote methods and practices that have potential for improving safety performance.


PETROLEUM INDUSTRY GUIDING PRINCIPLES
